A Poem a Day (25): Eight

Well, it's been a while since my last poem, but I'm going to try once more to keep it up! :)
This morning started with a giant spider in the bathtub. Not the happiest of presents... inspiring this poem... Thanks for reading :)

Eight

She creeps into the dusty corners,
Scuttling shyly in the dark,
Making waves in wandering
Fast then slow, back and forth.

Suspended so, she twirls,
Dangling above our heads,

Never placing a step wrong,
She looks where the black flies hover,
Hoping they will perch
For just the shortest while,

Drifting across this silver net,
Spun with a delicate finesse.

A tiny drop of dew bounces,
Making the invisible visible
By creating movement.
She makes her move swiftly,

Offering her unsuspecting guest
An entreaty to stay a while.

The newcomer seeks to fly,
Yet the stick-thin legs weld tight
To this light gossamer thread.
Lively, the spider skips forth.
